School Performance

Today was the big holiday show at school, and we have video & pictures to share! The Blue Room sang two songs – “Twinkle Twinkle” and “If You’re Happy and You Know It”. The entire class is represented here- typically Caleb is only in school with 8 other children. They don’t all go everyday so it looks like a lot of kids.

A few things to look for:
- Their sparkly white t-shirts that they made themselves. (The set props in the background were made by the Red Room.)
- Caleb’s three teachers are in the foreground. Many of you have heard us mention them. I won’t list them by name for security reasons, but you might be able to put a face with a name. Or a voice (Irish brogue, hint hint). And the woman who walks in to remove a child is the school director. (We heart the school director!)
- Yes, that is Caleb’s voice you can hear above the other children. He sang the loudest and the longest! Unfortunately he was turned away from me and I couldn’t navigate around all the other parents, so we don’t have direct video of him. Anyway, the song ended (Twinkle Twinkle) and he keeps going. (You have to kind of listen closely.)
- Sorry for the jump/wobbly footage in between songs. I had to jump off a radiator that was burning my behind!

Life is but a Dream!

Elio has outgrown baby tub #1, so we brought up the [fabulous] Euro tub the other night.  It was sitting in the foyer waiting to go upstairs to the boys’ bathroom.  As a bedtime procrastination technique, Caleb turned it into a rowboat.

Here are the boys rowing away in the foyer.  Caleb serving as ‘gondolier’.  I couldn’t decide which one was funnier, so I uploaded two short videos.  Be sure to look out for the high note Caleb strikes on “merrily, merrily, merrily”!

Our turkey is only ounces bigger than Elio.  A little creepy!

Yesterday Caleb came with me to get it and we had the great idea of putting the turkey in Elio’s empty car seat.  Only the base was in the car however.  I think this is going to be one of those urban legends within our family however; when we retell it in years to come the turkey will have gone for a ride in Elio’s car seat.

HAPPY ‘SANKSGIVING!

Elio at 4 Months

Elio had his 4 month wellness exam today.  He is 17lbs, 3 oz (90th percentile), and 27.5″ (still 1″ longer than 95th percentile).

The doctor thinks he’s doing great.

The main topic for discussion was H1N1.  Due to Elio’s age (babies under 6 months cannot receive the vaccine), we are all considered “at risk”.  Ideally everyone would get the vaccine- me, Dave, Caleb and Alexa.  Easier said than done.  When we left the doctor’s office he said to expect a call sometime in the next week.  Instead we were pleasantly surprised and received a message on our phone moments ago stating that we can make an appointment to get everyone vaccinated this weekend!

Boo!

Caleb gets along very well with our good friend’s daughter, Juliet.  They played together one Saturday for five hours straight without incident.  This is a lot for two-year-olds!

Here’s a sweet video of them interacting.

And then big hugs after bathtime! (The actual bath videos are in the vault to be used at their respective weddings.  Ha ha.)

Romeo & Juliet

The Stool

We have a couple of Ikea stools around the house that allow Caleb to reach the sink, the island in the kitchen, etc.  This stool is pretty heavy.  And each leg has a rubber stopper so that it doesn’t slip when he’s standing on it.  Because of the rubber stoppers it’s not easy to move the stool.  If pushed alone it makes a lot of noise.  I always ask Caleb to pick it up when he moves it around the kitchen so that it’s not making a lot of noise.  To date he’s gone pretty short distances with it due to the weight.  However, on Friday night he was feeling strong I guess, and started moving it all around the house as if it were nothing.  He first brought it across the kitchen, dining room and living room to reach something in the living room.  From there he carried it across the foyer to turn on the light for the stairs.  I captured the last leg of the journey.

As an added bonus you’ll get to witness his Type A personality still going strong.  (When he positions Lola’s bed “just so”.)

The Salty Song

Caleb is a big Thomas the Tank Engine fan.  Salty is a character in the Thomas series.  Salty, as his name reflects, lived by the sea.  Now that he’s working in Sodor, Sir Topham Hat (the boss) lets him work Brendam Docks so that he can see and smell the ocean.  Salty is a hard worker and likes to sing while he works.  Caleb LOVES the Salty song.  So we made up a little dance to it.

“Yo-ho-ho and a bucket of prawns,

The tiller spins and the Captain yawns!”

Patience

Caleb puts on his PJs all by himself at night.  And these PJs are not that easy to put on.  They are rather tight around the wrists and ankles, so he needs to work pretty hard.  There is a lot of grunting and groaning going on usually.  In fact, one night he decided to add socks to the ensemble and was bent over at the end of his bed trying to get them on.  From downstairs it sounded as if he were throwing up!

Anyway, I was feeling very gracious at the bedtime hour, so I opted to film his progress.  It’s a 6-minute video, so patience.  He does entertain with a version of “Old McDonald” halfway through however.

“Dump” Truck

Please excuse my dirty humor. I just couldn’t resist. A toy magazine arrived in the mail over the weekend. Caleb was browsing it and of course got very excited about this picture of many construction vehicles.  (Couldn’t rotate since this post was done from the iPhone, but you’ll get the drift.)

All of a sudden Caleb says “Poop, Mommy!  Look, poop in the dump truck!  Ha ha ha!”   Since we are in the midst of some pseudo-potty training, I didn’t want him to get any ideas about going to the bathroom in the dump truck.  I was all ready to explain what it actually was, but then when I looked at the picture I didn’t know quite what to say.  I think it is poop!  Here’s a close-up:

Gross, right??
